David Marsh is a leading figure in the development of CLIL in Europe. Acting as a driving force in the 1990s introductory phase and launching the term CLIL in 1994, he has continued to be actively involved with the global CLIL community. Most recently he has worked on linking evidence from the educational neurosciences with aspects of CLIL practice.

Born in Australia, educated in the UK and operating from Finland, he has experience of teacher development, educational capacity-building, research and consultancy in a range of different countries like Africa, Asia, the Middle East and South America. Having published extensively, he is co-author, among others, of Uncovering CLIL, Macmillan (2008), Content and Language Integrated Learning, Cambridge University Press (2010) and of European Framework for CLIL Teacher Education (2011).
